Kim Olson, Colonel, United States Air Force, retired

Democratic nominee for Texas Commissioner of Agriculture

Kim Olson has served this country for 25 years, rising to rank of Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, and later volunteered with the Texas State Guard.

Kim is a fourth generation farmer, learning to serve as a steward of our land, air, and water and sharing those lessons with others. On her own family farm in Palo Pinto County, Kim raises vegetables, keeps bees, and cultivates native grasses. She utilizes sustainable, generative practices that ensure that the farm’s resources will also be available for future generations of farmers.

Kim was HR director with Dallas ISD and served two terms on the Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees. She authored Iraq and Back, Inside the War to Win the Peace and was President of Grace After Fire to support female veterans returning from combat. Her commitment to Texans earned her an induction into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame.

Kim is dedicated to a sustainable future for agriculture, improving domestic and export markets for our state’s farmers and ranchers, promoting rural development, and ensuring access to healthy food for all Texans.
